Do you want to know the real reason major blue cities are falling apart? It’s because their residents keep supporting the policies that are destroying them. Voters are electing radical activists who defund police, legalize narcotics, and do nothing about homelessness. They are opening the floodgates of crime, violence, and societal decline.
And many residents seem to think it’s a good idea… until it comes back to bite them.
In far-left Portland, a grocery store decided to “go woke.” The 50-year-old co-op’s general manager encouraged leftist messaging. The staff wore name tags with their “preferred pronouns.” Shoppers were known to wear shirts with violent messages against anti-trans Americans. Clearly, the people who ran this shop were on board with the moral and societal decline that is rotting Portland.
Guess what they did next?
Food Front Cooperative Grocery in Northwest Portland closed its doors permanently [this year] after 51 years, announcing in a letter posted to its website that the co-op’s general manager had stepped down as well as the store’s board.
The woke co-op’s General Manager Michael Balanoff had previously tendered his resignation with the co-op and the grocer’s board of directors said they do not have a path forward without a general manager…
The outlet obtained minutes from the Food Front Board of Directors [recent] meeting which stated the co-op was $444,000 in debt, even after the co-op paid down its debt from over $1 million. [Source: The Post Millennial]

Oh, wow. Do you mean a woke grocery store that had a socialist-style structure couldn’t pay its bills!? The general manager quit and the store realized it was screwed. It had managed to pay down a massive debt of $1 million. But it was still on the hook for $444,000.
The store was a “co-op,” meaning customers had to join, pay membership fees, and even at times work at the store. This kind of system allows workers to get “paid” in groceries instead of cash. And it allows customers to avoid paying full price for their goods.
So, you know, not a sustainable business.
Shockingly, it managed to stay alive for 50 years. Why is it collapsing now? Perhaps it has something to do with Biden’s war on America? Biden triggered 40-year-high inflation and a crippling gas shortage. Grocery stores can’t survive when food and transportation is so expensive.
It probably also has something to do with Portland’s rapid decline. In recent years, the city has embraced some of the most radical leftist policies we have ever seen. And guess what, that wasn’t good for the city. It is on the verge of collapse, with many stores closing down because of rampant crime.
The board was also folding, giving a few weak options for members to keep the store alive. But I doubt this place has a bright future.
