Progressives in the U.S. have continued to pressure President Biden into turning on Israel. Leftists have sided with Palestinians and have spread anti-Israel views. They have even gone as far as to accuse Israel of “genocide.”
President Biden, for a time, continued to support our ally in the Middle East. But over recent weeks, he has increasingly shown hostility towards Israel.
It is possible Biden fears losing support from progressives in the upcoming election. Recently, he did the unthinkable—threatened to withhold support to Israel over the war. His pressure seemed to work as Israel is pulling troops from Gaza (even though hostages remain). Now, Hamas is making a bold claim.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced Sunday that it had withdrawn its forces from southern Gaza, following a demand from U.S. President Joe Biden last week for an “immediate ceasefire.” Hamas declared victory on the news.
The decision, coming on the day Israelis marked six months since the October 7 attack, came as a surprise, and as Israeli negotiators flew to Cairo for hostage negotiations. Hamas has demanded a ceasefire before any new deal.
The IDF will leave one brigade in Gaza, whose role will be to allow Israeli troops access to return as necessary. It will also carry out targeted operations, such as the successful raid at Shifa Hospital last month. [Source: Breitbart]
Hamas is claiming victory over the news that Israel is withdrawing troops from Southern Gaza. This move will only empower what is left of Hamas—which is hell-bent on destroying Israel and killing the Jewish people.
Israel pulled its troops just days after Joe Biden warned he’d turn on the nation if they didn’t enact an “immediate ceasefire.” Yet even Democrats like Hillary Clinton had explained a ceasefire would only help Hamas regain strength.
It seems Biden’s administration is becoming increasingly hostile toward Israel, the only true democracy in the Middle East. And Biden appears willing to aid enemies of Israel, including Iran and Palestinians, which have also called for America’s destruction.
Biden’s leftward bend will only hurt him in the coming election. While progressives are strongly opposed to Israel, most Americans are not. That includes most moderate Democrats—who make up most of Biden’s supporters.
However, Biden seems determined to do whatever the radical left tells him to do. Even if that means abandoning an ally we’ve supported for over 70 years.
