Democrat cities up North didn’t really care about the border crisis, for nearly three years. Until, of course, Texas Gov. Abbott started sending buses of illegals to their doorsteps. Suddenly, Democrat mayors had an opinion about a crisis that has been hammering border communities.
But did these Democrats do the right thing and demand Biden deport illegals? Of course, not. They seemed to think the only reasonable solution was to demand billions for the federal government to accommodate the tens of thousands of illegals who are destroying our cities.
One mayor had previously bragged about his city’s sanctuary status. He is even slashing budgets to spend more money on these invaders. But now, he is suddenly going back on his own word–demanding a major change.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams is seeking to amend the city’s sanctuary laws to exclude illegal migrants who have committed violent crimes.
Adams has mentioned his desire to tighten the city’s regulations on illegal migrants multiple times this week, with his latest at a Tuesday press conference.
“I don’t believe people who are violent in our city and commit repeated crimes should have the privilege of being in our city,” Adams said on Tuesday.
He added, “You don’t have the right to be in our city and tarnish the overwhelming number who are here following the rules.” [Source: Fox News]
Lol, wow this is rich! After bragging about New York’s sanctuary status for years, Mayor Adams is suddenly ready to get rid of criminal aliens. Which, of course, are the very people sanctuary laws are designed to protect!
During the Trump administration, Democrats rushed to pass laws that prohibited police from informing ICE about illegal aliens who committed crimes. Under Trump, ICE would have apprehended these criminals and deported them.
Now, only after Adams has burned through billions to fund this illegal immigration crisis, is he coming around to “amending” the city’s sanctuary laws. He is at least willing to rescind protections for “violent” criminals.
But I have some bad news for Adams. Thanks to his buddy, Joe Biden, ICE is unlikely to deport any illegals from New York, violent or otherwise. Biden has allowed 7.2 million aliens into the country since 2021. He has deported precious few, regardless of what they’ve done.
If Adams thinks changing this law is going to fix his city–he is dreaming. The only solution is to get that senile communist out of the White House.
