After Republicans Lose Critical Seat – Trump Slams Candidate With Brutal Nickname

Last year, House Republicans sided with Democrats to vote out Rep. George Santos. Santos was a Republican from a district in New York. He had been charged with various crimes, but had not been convicted. Despite maintaining his innocence—and with nothing proven—Republicans kicked him out.

That left a critical seat in the Republican’s already thin majority up for grabs. A special election in New York was held. And the race went to a Democrat, giving the party another seat, inching toward the majority in an election year.

The special election for ousted Rep George Santos former House seat was held on Tuesday, and the Republicans lost the seat. Democrat Tom Suozzi beat out Republican Mazi Pilip 59 to 41 percent…

Democrats would not have gained that seat, had Republicans not turned on one of their own. Say what you will about Santos. He might be found guilty of the charges against him. But in America, we are innocent until proven guilty. Republicans branded Santos guilty before anything was decided.

We all know Democrats would have never done that. Right now, a Democrat senator is under indictment for very serious charges. Yet Democrats in the Senate have made no attempts to remove him and risk their majority.

After this humiliating loss, Trump weighed in on the situation. And he was not kind to the Republican who lost to Suozzi.

Trump called Pilip a “foolish woman” and claimed she lost on Tuesday because she did not endorse his.

“Republicans just don’t learn, but maybe she was still a Democrat? I have an almost 99% Endorsement Success Rate in Primaries, and a very good number in the General Elections, as well, but just watched this very foolish woman, Mazi Melesa Pilip, running in a race where she didn’t endorse me and tried to ‘straddle the fence,’ when she would have easily WON if she understood anything about MODERN DAY politics in America,” Trump wrote. Oddly enough, the Ethiopian-born Mazi Pilip was a registered Democrat as recently as 2012. Donald Trump suggested she still might be a liberal, given her unwillingness to embrace him. According to reports, she even said she wouldn’t support his candidacy if he was convicted.

It is likely her refusal to endorse or seek Trump’s support hurt her campaign. Polling suggests that even in deep blue New York, voters are fed up with Democrats. Trump’s message is beginning to resonate. Even in 2022, many districts were shifting to the right. Had Pilip sought Trump’s support, the race would have gone differently.
