Since October 7, 2023, many Americans have been alarmed by the shift of some left-wing Democrats towards supporting pro-Gaza, anti-Israel factions, echoing antisemitic rhetoric akin to that of the Hamas terrorist group.
It seems that there is concern about a trend that started on college campuses and has now reached the halls of Congress. The far-left squad seems to have criticized Joe Biden for what they perceive as his lukewarm support for Israel.
Some of these progressive politicians are considered safe due to representing districts with large Muslim or progressive voting blocs. However, the same cannot be said for those from New York, a city with the largest Jewish population outside of Israel. While AOC has tempered her anti-Israel rhetoric, another member of the squad has not, and now they have faced electoral consequences.
Two-term Democratic Rep. Jamaal Bowman of New York has the dubious honor of becoming the first House member of either party to be defeated by a primary challenger so far in the 2024 election cycle.
And Bowman also becomes the first member of the Squad, a progressive group of diverse House Democrats, to be ousted from Congress.
This after The Associated Press projected that rival George Latimer would defeat Bowman in Tuesday’s Democratic primary in New York’s 16th Congressional District – which covers southern Westchester County, in suburban New York City, and a small portion of The Bronx.

You might remember Rep. Jamaal Bowman as the man who pulled a fire alarm to disrupt House voting to stop a government shutdown. He also reportedly went on a rant against the American Israel Public Affairs Committee during a rally in the Bronx.
He lost his primary challenge to a county executive, moderate Democrat George Latimer. Latimer also just happens to be pro-Israel. That certainly had an influence on who voters selected.
It seems this is the first rumbling of what could be a storm for anti-Israel Democrats. Former New York Gov. Cuomo previously warned progressives that being anti-Israel or antisemitic won’t fly. “The message is clear: antisemitism in any and all forms will not be tolerated in New York. And you can’t call yourself a progressive without making progress,” the Democrat posted to X.
The implications of this victory are far-reaching. This could empower conservatives in New York and other blue strongholds to go hard on anti-Israel candidates. It also sends a clear message to the Democratic Party: voters are tired of radicalism and are looking for more moderate, sensible leadership.
Bowman’s defeat is also a reminder that political tides can change quickly. The radical left may have had its moment in the sun, but Americans are quickly souring on their idiocy. What will this mean for November? We can’t be sure, but you better believe the rest of the squad is getting nervous.
