Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced his presidential campaign earlier in the year. Since then, he has seen steady growth in support. He even raised millions thanks to a special event featuring rock icon Eric Clapton.
Despite his growing support, the Democratic Party has refused to acknowledge or support his campaign. Joe Biden even denied Kennedy Secret Service protection, even though he’s faced numerous threats.
It’s becoming clear that Kennedy is not being treated fairly by his own party. Democrats are going against the very democratic principles they claim to love. So now, Kennedy might be making a move that could decisively prevent Joe from winning in 2024.
Robert F Kennedy Jr, who launched his campaign for the Democrat presidential nomination in April, reportedly has plans to announce a run as an independent candidate.
According to Mediaite, Kennedy plans to make the announcement on October 9 in Philadelphia, with a text message viewed by the outlet stating that his campaign is planning “attack ads” against the Democrat National Committee to “pave the way” for his announcement. [Source: The Post Millennial]
This is a pretty big deal. Because Democrats are going out of their way to undermine Kennedy’s campaign, he is reportedly going to run as an independent. His campaign is already preparing attack ads… against the Democratic National Committee.
Should Kennedy run as an independent in the general election, Biden is doomed. He is already facing a third-party candidate in Cornel West. The respected black professor is likely to take many left-wing votes from Biden. But if Kennedy, a popular and moderate Democrat, runs against Joe, he will take many moderate and swing votes from Biden.
It is very possible that Kennedy will take away just enough votes from Joe, that Biden will crash and burn in 2024. Biden is already dealing with the effects of his failed economic policy. Plus, he has been outed in scandals connected with his son. And he will have to most likely run against Donald Trump, a man far more competent than he.
With Kennedy taking liberal votes from Joe, he could not get enough support to defeat Trump. Which could result in a Trump landslide in 2024.
But is there a way for Kennedy to win as an independent? That’s hard to say. He would have to take votes from both Trump and Biden, to have a chance. Are there enough Republicans willing to ditch Trump to take a chance on a liberal like Kennedy? I guess we’ll find out.
In either case, Biden is in big trouble.
