Biden’s Homeland Security Sec. Alejandro Mayorkas, who is currently vaccinated against coronavirus, has tested positive for covid on Tuesday.
Department of Homeland Security spokeswoman Marsha Espinosa announced that Mayorkas’ positive covid test results this Tuesday, CNN has reported.
“Sec. Mayorkas tested positive for the coronavirus virus after taking a test during a routine pre-travel check,” Espinosa stated. “The Secretary is having only mild congestion; he is completely vaccinated and will now isolate and work from home according to CDC protocols. We also have contact tracing underway.”
On Friday, Mayorkas went to the Border Protection Valor Memorial and Wreath Laying Ceremony, which honored CBP officers who died in the line of duty, as reported by CNBC.
Mayorkas joined with President Biden, the First Lady and other top-ranking officials at the yearly National Police Officers’ Memorial Service at the United States Capitol. In pictures from the event, Mayorkas is seen standing only feet away from Biden while they both were unmasked.
Earlier this Tuesday, Mayorkas talked to the Eradicate Hate Global Summit in Pennsylvania. Mayorkas was also planned to travel to Colombia with Sec. of State Antony Blinken, but will work from his home now.
While the coronavirus vaccines are supposed to help prevent people from catching the virus, so-called “breakthrough” cases are not uncommon. Former Sec. of State Colin Powell was also completely vaccinated but had a breakthrough of the virus and died from coronavirus complications this Monday. Powell was also fighting a blood cancer known as multiple myeloma, which can weaken your immune system.
A vaccinated top aide for Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) also had a breakthrough COVID case this July. A vaccinated White House aide also tested positive at the same time in July.
As Democrats force vaccine and mask mandates on the rest of the country, as the photo of Mayorkas standing near President Joe Biden shows, they are often caught not following their own rules. This has been the case since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic when even far-left AOC was caught on camera putting on a mask only for a photo-op and removing the mask afterword.
