The man who promised to be a “moderate” president that would “unite” the country has become anything but. Early into his administration, Joe Biden has pushed radical policies that could only make the far-left happy.
He has signed a mountain of executive orders to undo much of Trump’s accomplishments. Biden has killed thousands of jobs already and ensured American energy dominance is at an end. In addition to this, he has shocked even liberals with his moves that ignored Congress’s role in approving policy and legislation.
But finally, he is calling on Congress to work with him. What he wants to do, however, will not make many Americans happy.
Democrat President Joe Biden called on Congress to clamp down on Americans’ constitutionally protected Second Amendment rights on Sunday, demanding gun bans and new laws that will allow people to sue gun manufacturers.
“I am calling on Congress to enact commonsense gun law reforms, including requiring background checks on all gun sales, banning assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, and eliminating immunity for gun manufacturers who knowingly put weapons of war on our streets,” Biden wrote to Congress. Joe Biden’s statement did not explain what an “assault weapon” was. Like most gun control messaging, it ignores the fact that there is no such thing as an “assault weapon.” It’s possible Biden was referring to semi-automatic firearms, like AR-15s and most modern handguns. If that is the case, then Biden appears to want to confiscate guns currently owned by Americans.
Biden did not include language that suggested those who own these weapons can keep them—which means Biden wants Congress to pass a law that will allow the government to take guns away from Americans by force.
Nothing like that has ever happened in the history of our country—but we shouldn’t be surprised. This Democratic Party impeached a president, twice, without evidence of wrongdoing. They have repeatedly ignored the Constitution over the last five years. They hate free speech, churches, and Americans’ ability to earn a living.
So, wouldn’t they want to trample the Second Amendment, by taking away your firearms?
On top of this, Biden wants to erode the rights of private businesses, by making them vulnerable to lawsuits. Any time a criminal hurts someone with a weapon, Biden thinks the gunmaker should be held responsible. Imagine the lunacy of such a move—not to mention the unconstitutional nature of it.
Should a carmaker be sued because someone ran a red light? Should a restaurant be sued because someone overate? Then why should a gun maker be punished for the actions of someone else?
This move appears more about discouraging gun manufacturers from making firearms—or perhaps putting them out of business altogether. Either a company stops making guns, out of fear of lawsuits, or they’d be so overwhelmed with costly lawsuits, they’d fold anyway.
Regardless, it is one of many insane measures Biden is calling for—at a time when gun ownership is at an all-time high.
As usual, Democrats are ignoring what Americans want to push their own agenda.
