It’s well known by most Americans that major blue cities are overrun by crime, illegal immigrants, and the homeless. Left-wing city councils and mayors have passed radical policies that encourage drug abuse, petty and violent crime, and corruption. Businesses are fleeing at a record pace. Americans feverishly try to find somewhere else to live.
But, according to California Governor Gavin Newsom, it’s not their fault. He recently claimed that Democrats in California are burning through tax dollars to provide shelters and help for the homeless. The reason it hasn’t worked is because federal courts are preventing police from clearing away homeless encampments, which would compel homeless to seek help.
Except… Newsom is forgetting one thing.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom blamed federal judges for refusing to let state and local governments clear homeless encampments from the streets — but many of the judges involved are liberals, or Democratic Party appointees…
The flaw in Newsom’s argument — leaving aside from the broadside attack on the judiciary — is that many of the federal judges involved in lawsuits restraining California’s cities from acting on homelessness are liberals, like him.
In San Francisco, the city was blocked from clearing homeless camps last December by U.S. Magistrate Judge Donna Ryu. She was appointed in 2010 by judges in the Northern District of California during President Barack Obama’s push to hire more women and minorities. [Source: Breitbart]
Okay, so let me get this straight. Democrats legalized drugs and increased benefits for the homeless. That triggered a massive explosion in homelessness in blue cities. When cities tried to use police to get rid of the homeless, judges blocked them.
So, the judges are to blame, right? Wrong. Most of the judges ruling against blue cities were Obama appointees or known liberals. Pro-Democrat judges are issuing rulings that are making the homeless crisis worse.
Funny how Newsom didn’t mention that. It’s as if he wants to tie the homeless problem to the left’s larger attempt to undermine the judiciary.
Democrats are attacking the courts lately because the Supreme Court has ruled against them repeatedly. And, it seems, leftists want Americans to turn against the courts–so that they can pass laws to weaken them.
In reality, the very judges making it harder for Newsom to “fix” the homeless crisis are supporters of his party.
But let’s be honest. Even if the courts didn’t block police from clearing away encampments, the homeless crisis would remain. Blue cities have rewarded homelessness with radical, socialist policies that have destroyed communities. Unless these leftists are voted out of office, things won’t get better at all.
