The election is just a few months away. Many Americans fear a similar crisis to what we saw in 2020. Even to this day, some Republicans believe the election was stolen by rampant fraud. In the years that followed, some states passed laws to prevent future corruption—to the outrage of Democrats.
House Republicans have seen what Biden’s done to the border. And they proposed a bill that would shut down a possible election-stealing scheme.
This week, Trump called on Republicans to act quickly to pass this bill. He also called on Republican leaders within the party (and at the state and local level) to work overtime to secure this election. Soon after Trump made this demand, the House voted on this bill.
On Wednesday, the House voted to pass the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, which seeks to amend the National Voter Registration Act by requiring states to obtain proof of citizenship for individuals voting in federal elections. The bill would also require states to ensure non-citizens are not on their voter rolls and impose penalties of up to five years in prison for any election official who registers non-citizens.
The bill was passed by House Republicans along with a number of Democrats. It now heads to the Senate, where it is likely to be ignored by the Democratic majority that has been vocal in its opposition towards voter identification. President Joe Biden has also said he would veto the bill if it were to be passed in the Senate. [Source: The Post Millennial]
The House has just passed the SAVE Act, making it illegal for non-citizens to vote in federal elections. This new bill marks a significant shift in Republican’s efforts to protect elections from rampant fraud.
The bill aims to ensure that only American citizens can participate in federal elections. This bill has sparked a lot of debate and controversy. Supporters believe it’s a necessary step to safeguard the integrity of the election process.
Democrats have railed against this bill, claiming it is unnecessary. They have claimed it targets immigrant communities and is a solution looking for a problem. Yet, it seems bizarre that Democrats would oppose a bill that prevents non-Americans from voting. After all, the law states only U.S. citizens can vote.
Are Democrats interested in letting immigrants interfere with our elections? Many have accused President Biden of trying to do this. He has neglected our Southern border, allowing 10 million illegal aliens to enter. Republicans claim Biden wanted this, so Democrats could exploit these migrants for cheap labor and free votes.
If passed, this bill will require states to verify a voter’s U.S. citizenship. It is unclear how states will be able to do this, given voter registration is often done via the mail.
Democrats have largely opposed attempts to secure our elections. They claim simple measures like voter ID discourage minorities from voting. Yet they fail to explain why black Americans are able to get IDs for other things, like driving a car, but not to vote.
The more they oppose election integrity, the more they sound like they support voter fraud.
