Ever since the Supreme Court gained a conservative majority, Democrats have been scheming to shut it down. In recent months, leftists have mounted a campaign to tarnish the reputation of Justice Clarence Thomas–one of the most respected leaders in our country. They’ve tried to make it seem like Thomas received special benefits from Republican donors.
Despite the court siding with Thomas, Democrats have spread these allegations in the hopes of getting him booted from the highest court in the land.
But all the while, it looks like one of their own was sticking her hand in the cookie jar. Democrats have tried to hit Thomas and other conservative justices with ethics complaints. Now, we are learning that Obama-appointed Justice Sotomayor was doing something much worse. And Americans were forced to pay.
Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor’s staffers have repeatedly used taxpayer funded court staff performing tasks to prod public institutions for the justice’s book ventures, which has garnered her millions of dollars in extra income.
Sotomayor, who earns an annual salary of $285,400, has leveraged taxpayer funded travel to promote her books. While other justices have also earned additional income through their own literary deals, no other justices come close to Sotomayor, which has raised ethical concerns within the Supreme Court, Associated Press reports. Oh, really!? Democrats were getting their panties in a twist because Clarence Thomas had dinner with someone twenty years ago. But they ignored how Sotomayor was using taxpayer-funded travel to sell her books?
Sotomayor has brought in millions from book sales, far more than any other justice. And all the while, she was able to bring in that much dough, because she wasn’t spending any of her own money to promote her books.
Gee, using tax dollars to fund her private agenda? Sounds a lot like an ethics violation if you ask me.
Why can’t Clarence Thomas or Samuel Alito have Republican friends, but Sotomayor can spend our money to help sell her books?
Why aren’t Democrats just as upset about this? In reality, this is much worse than what they have accused Thomas of. Justice Thomas never used taxpayer funds to build his personal wealth. Yet it’s okay for Sotomayor to do it because she is a liberal?
Once again, Democrats prove there is one standard of justice for us and a very different one for themselves.
