In recent weeks, we’ve seen a shocking rift growing within the Democratic Party. Progressives are turning on moderates in a move that could fragment the party just before the election.
Progressives have even protested outside Democrat leaders’ offices and houses. They have blasted President Biden’s policies, even accusing him of a heinous crime.
Even members of his own administration quit in disgust. But they came back to confront their former boss, a top Biden official. And they even interrupted her speech to do it.
USAID Director Samantha Power faced a public revolt from current and former staff condemning “U.S.-funded genocide” in Gaza when she attempted to deliver a speech on climate change in Washington on Tuesday.
Staff members, some of whom had quit just days prior to the speech, interrupted her and demanded that she resign.
“You wrote a book on genocide and you’re still working for the administration: You should resign and speak out,” said Agnieszka Sykes, who worked for USAID until quitting last week, according to The Washington Post.
A current USAID employee, Hannah Funk, accused the U.S. of “hypocrisy” and suggested the Biden administration had squandered its “moral authority” by supporting Israel. [Source: Fox News]
The director of USAID, Samantha Power, was interrupted during a speech on climate change this week. Staffers who quit over Biden’s support of Israel, along with current staff, challenged Power.
They accused Biden of genocide and told Power to “resign” and “speak out.” Power has apparently written a book on genocide. Progressives have sided with anti-Israel forces over its war with Hamas.
These anti-Israel progressives have called the nation an “apartheid state” and accused it of “oppressing” the Palestinian people. Without evidence, progressives claimed Israel has committed genocide in its war to defeat terror group Hamas.
Biden has maintained America’s longstanding support of Israel, the world’s only Jewish state and the only democracy in the Middle East. Because of this support, progressive Democrats have turned on Biden, issuing damning accusations against him and his presidency.
It is unknown how widespread this animosity towards Biden has become. For members of his own administration to quit and turn on his officials should be alarming to the party. Biden had banked on siding with progressives to bolster his administration and campaigns.
But now, his re-election chances might be shot because of them.
