DeSantis Drops Epic COVID Bomb on Trump – Do You Believe This Accusation?

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is polling behind Trump for the GOP primaries. He is second but has a lot of ground to cover. He scored a major win this week when Iowa Gov. Reynolds endorsed him over Donald Trump.

The Republican governor claimed Trump asked her for an endorsement, but she said no.

Both the governor and DeSantis discussed the upcoming election during an interview. And both had some alarming things to say about former President Trump. They dropped an accusation against the man that will have many Americans shocked.

During an interview with NBC News on Monday, 2024 Republican presidential candidate Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) and Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds (R), who has endorsed DeSantis for president, said that rival 2024 GOP candidate former President Donald Trump attacked governors for trying to reopen during the coronavirus pandemic…

“…the pushback was incredible, it was unbelievable, from the media, from the teacher’s union, from the Trump administration. He actually called out governors for trying to open up, to get the economy moving. They tried to force us to shelter in place.” […]

“And yet, I know Donald Trump says he did everything right during COVID. That is not true. And so, we need to have a reckoning, we need accountability. And Kim’s exactly right. She was doing things, Gov. Brian Kemp (R-GA) was attacked from the White House podium for opening up Georgia. … And so, it was media, bureaucracy, both Trump’s and Biden’s administration, and we just need to have an accounting for that.” [Source: Breitbart]

Woah. Both Governor Reynolds of Iowa and GOP candidate Ron DeSantis accused former President Trump of opposing them when they reopened their states during COVID. Reynolds claimed she got a lot of pushback from the Trump administration when he reopened Iowa.

DeSantis said much the same. He blasted Trump’s handling of the pandemic, saying he did not get it right. DeSantis has long criticized Trump’s early handling of the outbreak, accusing him of doing whatever lockdown-loving Anthony Fauci told him to do (including pushing vaccines).

He’s now saying that Trump criticized him and other governors for reopening their states when the federal government wanted everyone locked down. DeSantis is calling for accountability over what Trump and other federal officials did during that time.

But will voters feel the same? Trump enjoys a strong lead, according to most polls. But he is largely to blame for the chaos and uncertainty that surrounded America during the COVID pandemic. Could voters turn on Trump, after being reminded of this by DeSantis? I guess we’ll find out.
