DeSantis Surprises Trump with Big Announcement – Is He Serious?

Ron DeSantis tried to ride his massive 2022 reelection victory into a presidential campaign. But he was hit with plenty of obstacles, mostly coming from former President Donald Trump. Despite being allies in the past, Trump was merciless in his attacks against the Florida governor.

DeSantis fought back as best he could, but he was not able to build enough momentum to challenge Trump. By January of this year, he dropped out of the race.

Signs pointed to DeSantis getting behind Trump. He was reportedly at a big-ticket event for Trump recently. Now, word is coming out about what DeSantis said to some of his supporters. The Republican star is going to do this for Trump.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis told donors and supporters at a private retreat last weekend that he plans to help raise money for Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, according to three sources familiar with the matter.

DeSantis told his allies about the move to help Trump during a private gathering Saturday at South Florida’s Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, these people said.

“He did say it in front of a group of people at the Hard Rock,” a DeSantis adviser told NBC News.

Ron DeSantis told a group of supporters during a private event that he will be fundraising for Donald Trump’s 2024 campaign. He vowed that he would lend his influence in the party to help Republicans “up and down the ballot” including “presidential.”

It seems that the personal grudge between DeSantis and Trump has been set aside. Trump is a Florida resident and would certainly cross paths with the governor frequently, especially during GOP events.

It is likely DeSantis is eager to help Trump, to bring Biden’s administration to an end. President Biden has been something of an enemy to DeSantis and the increasingly conservative state of Florida. Getting Trump back into office could only help DeSantis’ plans for the state.

Several former rivals have endorsed Trump’s campaign, including Sen. Tim Scott. Noticeably absent from Trump’s team has been Nikki Haley, who refused to drop out of the race for months, despite losing badly to Trump. It is unclear if she will do anything to help Trump’s campaign.
