After his first choice, Sean Parnell, dropped out of the race in Pennsylvania’s Senate election last fall due to a contentious child custody dispute with his wife, celebrity doctor Mehmet Oz was named by former President Donald Trump as his favorite for the Senate.
“It’s all about winning elections in order to prevent the Radical Left lunatics from dismantling our nation,” Trump declared of his support for Oz.
“The magnificent and well-known Dr. Mehmet Oz has an incredible opportunity to Save America by being elected to the United States Senate through The Great Commonwealth of Pennsylvania,” Trump said. “I’ve known Dr. Oz for a long time, as have many others, even if only through his very successful TV program.”
Trump bragged about the “thousands of lives he saved with the heart operations” that Oz has carried out in his surgical career, as well as his eight NY Times bestsellers.
Trump praised Oz for his pro-life beliefs and his expertise on border security, election fraud, and the military as reasons for his endorsement. Trump stated:
“Dr. Oz is Pro-Life, worried about Crime, Border Issues, Election Fraud, Our Great Military, and Veterans’ Care Benefits. He will fight tirelessly to protect and support our under-fire Second Amendment. Dr. Oz also has a strong commitment to high-quality education and ensuring that parents have a say in their children’s education.”
Trump thinks Oz would be the most competitive candidate in the November midterm elections against the Democratic opponent.
“Perhaps most significantly, I believe that Dr. Mehmet Oz will be the most successful in defeating a Radical Left Democrat who seeks to do enormous damage to our nation. Women, in particular, are attracted to Dr. Oz because of his guidance and counsel. I’ve seen this happen many times over the years. They know him and trust him.”
“He understands that his duty is to serve all Pennsylvanians, therefore I give him my Complete and Total Endorsement,” Trump added. “Good luck, Doctor Oz. Our nation needs you!”
Recent polls found that Oz is behind businessman David McCormick, the current frontrunner in the election. The Pennsylvania Republican Senate primary happens on May 17.
