Comedian and talk show host Bill Maher has long been an advocate for liberalism. For years, he has been critical of conservatives, especially prominent Republican leaders and presidents. He was brutal to Donald Trump, during his presidency and continues to support Democrat policies and politicians.
But even he is getting tired of the woke left.
Maher recently appeared on the Joe Rogan Podcast. The two outspoken comedians sparred on a variety of topics, including the presidencies of Trump and Biden. But the two seemed to come to an agreement on dangerous of the growing wokeism among Democrats. Maher was adamant liberalism is not the same as leftism. And even compared leftists to this group.

Whoa, Bill, tell us how you really feel! Liberal figure Bill Maher defended his social and political views on the Joe Rogan Podcast. He claimed that liberalism is distinct from leftism, as leftists increasingly take over the liberal wing of American politics.
Maher said that “true” liberals, like John F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King, were “colorblind.” They advocated for a society that did not see race “at all.” Maher also included Barack Obama among these kinds of liberals, a statement that many Americans will refute.
But leftists or woke people, Maher claimed, see race “everywhere.” And the comedian said this stance “used to be the position of the Ku Klux Klan.” The liberal compared the current woke movement to an infamous group that promoted white supremacy and racial discrimination.
Maher was firm that such a view, to see race everywhere, was not a “liberal position.” Perhaps many Americans will agree with him. In recent years, we’ve seen Democrat voters and traditionally liberal Americans defect from the Democratic Party.
The Democrat Party has become much more leftist in its agenda, using “woke” views to promote socialism. And some liberals, including Maher, have become the black sheep of the party for calling this out.
He won’t find much disagreement among conservatives, despite his loathing of them. Many Republicans and conservative Americans have long commented on Democrats’ slide into Marxist “wokeism.” The party might not agree, but when you have a diehard liberal like Maher agreeing with conservatives, things are getting pretty bad for Democrats.
