Authorities in Washington, D.C. are working to contain aggressive protestors who have taken to the city’s streets as they await the results of the 2020 elections.
Hundreds of protestors gathered in demonstration at the Black Lives Matter Plaza, which is located a few blocks away from the White House. They could be see carrying anti-Trump signs, while chanting Democrat talking points and urging for a transition of power to Joe Biden.
Police arrested multiple Antifa and radical left demonstrators throughout the night. At some points, they had to deploy non-lethal force in order to control the violent demonstrations. Some Black Lives Matter protestors were even seen lighting off fireworks outside the plaza and marching against the police.

Earlier this week, officials placed security fencing around the White House perimeter in preparation for the violent protests. The move is similar to when the administration set up a barricade fence in the same area back in June when Black Lives Matter protesters set fire to Saint John’s Church across the street.

Additionally, downtown businesses boarded up their windows in anticipation of widespread looting and anarchy. Police expect tensions with protestors to carry on into the remainder of the week.
