Senator Ted Cruz has never been one to mince words, especially when it comes to predicting political shake-ups. Last year, he boldly suggested that Democrats would give President Joe Biden the boot by August. Now, while his crystal ball was a tad off—just by a few weeks—his prediction is looking eerily close to reality, adding fuel to his ongoing concerns about Biden’s future and the backroom chess game in the Democratic Party.
Cruz’s earlier forecast wasn’t just a shot in the dark; it tapped into the growing whispers about Biden’s viability as the Democratic standard-bearer. Sure, his timeline was a bit off, but that hardly dulls the impact. If anything, it sharpens the point: Democrats might just be gearing up for a strategic leadership swap as Election Day draws near.
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) said this week that he believes there is a good chance that President Joe Biden leaves office before the elections this fall…
“So, I’m going to make another prediction, and it’s not one that I want to have happen,” Cruz said. “I’m going to put the odds at 40% that Joe Biden resigns between now and Election Day.”
Ferguson said that doing so would give Harris a “huge advantage” in the election, to which Cruz responded: “…I think if they can bully Joe Biden into doing it, it’ll happen.” [Source: Daily Wire]
On his podcast, *Verdict,* Cruz shared a new prediction, and it’s got people talking. He’s now giving it a 40% chance that Biden could resign before Election Day. Cruz isn’t hoping for this outcome—he made that clear—but he’s not dismissing the possibility, given the shaky ground Biden seems to be on.
Cruz laid out his reasoning, pointing to the potential pressures from Biden’s own camp. If the president’s health or political standing starts to wobble too much, those with a vested interest in keeping the ship steady might push for him to step down. “Everyone who stays in power is going to say, you know, if you say your health has reached a point that you need to step aside,” Cruz mused, suggesting that Democrats might spin Biden’s resignation as a grand gesture of patriotism.
The narrative Cruz envisions? Biden could be painted as a selfless leader, a modern-day FDR or George Washington, who knew when to bow out for the good of the country. It’s a storyline that could elevate Biden’s legacy in the eyes of his party, and Cruz warns that the Democrats might use this to convince Biden to step aside gracefully.
Cruz’s co-host, Ben Ferguson, added a juicy tidbit to the conversation, noting that such a move would hand Vice President Kamala Harris a “huge advantage” going into the election. Cruz didn’t disagree. If Biden resigns, Harris steps up as president, instantly becoming the incumbent—and we all know how much that boosts a campaign. Cruz suspects that if the pressure is on, Biden could indeed be nudged out of the race.
This isn’t Cruz’s first rodeo with such predictions. He called it last September, saying Democrats would force Biden out by August. Sure, he was a little off, but the possibility he raised still looms large.
And then there’s the possibility of turning Biden into a hero of sorts. Cruz imagines that if Biden announces he’s not running for re-election, Democrats might just start chiseling his face onto the “Rushmore of socialists,” as Cruz cheekily put it. By stepping down, Biden could be lionized as a hero in the eyes of the left, a statesman who put the country first.
As the clock ticks down to Election Day, all eyes are on Biden—and Cruz’s prediction. While Cruz hopes his latest forecast doesn’t come true, he’s certainly not ruling it out. After all, in the world of politics, stranger things have happened.
