Disney took the extraordinary step to sue Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis over claims he was “weaponizing” the government against it. That’s a laugh! Disney has gone above and beyond to interfere with the state’s legislative process. The woke company went to war with Florida, to allow teachers to groom public school students.
Its latest scheme is to intimidate the governor and the will of those who elected him. Do you think DeSantis is going to back down? Not on your life. And the Republican firebrand just came out swinging against this Hollywood juggernaut.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Thursday dismissed Disney’s lawsuit against him, calling it politically motivated and saying it is not “pro-business” to let one company get favorable treatment from the government…
“I don’t think the suit has merit,” the governor said in Jerusalem…
“They’re upset because they’re having to live by the same rules as everybody else. They don’t want to pay the same taxes as everybody else and they want to be able to control things without proper oversight,” DeSantis said. “The days of putting one company on a pedestal with no accountability are over in the state of Florida.” […]
“The idea that somehow being pro-business means giving companies their own governments, that is not what a free market is all about, last I checked,” DeSantis said Thursday. [Source: Fox Business]
Boom! Gov. DeSantis shut down Disney’s lawsuit against him, saying that the woke company is fighting for preferential treatment. He criticized the major Hollywood studio for throwing a hissy fit over the state’s decision to revoke its special statute.
Disney has enjoyed an unusual arrangement with Florida for years. It gave made the company a pseudo-government. They had control over the land on which Disney World is built and they avoided certain fees and taxes. It gave Disney an advantage over any other company that wanted to build a theme park.
DeSantis said the days of Disney enjoying that advantage are over. He claims this lawsuit is politically motivated, as Disney is run by Democrats. He says that Disney will have to pay the “same taxes” as any other company running a theme park in Orlando. Florida will no longer put this woke company on a “pedestal,” especially since it tried to undermine the state government.
Disney destroyed its reputation after several top executives revealed its leftist agenda. The once family-friendly company is pushing LGBT characters and themes in its movies, TV shows, and attractions. This woke shift has alienated millions of fans, resulting in the loss of billions.
