Joe Manchin Torches Biden’s Radical Spending Plan, Signals Its Defeat

Joe Biden has been pushing a $3.5 trillion spending plan that essentially amounts to a socialist takeover of our economy. Some experts suggest the bill will cost even more, upwards of $5 trillion. Not a single Republican will vote on the measure. Democrats in the Senate plan to force the bill through via reconciliation, requiring every last Democrat vote.

But they have a very big problem.

Two moderate senators have made it clear they are not happy with the bill. Both of them hail from red states that have strongly supported Donald Trump in the past. If these senators vote for a toxic bill like Biden’s, they might face some strong headwinds in their next election. The chief Democrat opponent to Biden’s spending plan is Joe Manchin, who has frequently spoken out against it.

And he just gave a statement that essentially put this socialist bill in the grave.

“At some point, all of us, regardless of party must ask the simple question – how much is enough?” Manchin said. “What I have made clear to the President and Democratic leaders is that spending trillions more on new and expanded government programs, when we can’t even pay for the essential social programs, like Social Security and Medicare, is the definition of fiscal insanity…

“While I am hopeful that common ground can be found that would result in another historic investment in our nation, I cannot – and will not – support trillions in spending or an all or nothing approach that ignores the brutal fiscal reality our nation faces.” [Source: Daily Wire]

In a powerful statement released this week, Sen. Joe Manchin put to rest questions on whether he’d support Joe Biden’s massive spending bill. The West Virginia lawmaker blasted the extremely expensive plan, laying out a clear and damning series of reasons why it cannot be passed.

One of the more biting criticisms he gave was that Biden and the left want to spend significant amounts of money on new programs, even though they are struggling to pay for existing, “essential social programs” like Social Security and Medicare.

Manchin hammered Democrats for blindly pushing forward with new socialist spending, without thinking about how they’d pay for it. He decried attempts to “reengineer the social and economic fabric” of our country—which is exactly what this bill aims to do. Biden’s spending bill is a socialist takeover of our economy, which would destroy numerous industries and put millions on welfare.

The senator butted heads with Democrats, saying we do not need this kind of spending, because we are not really in a recession. He pointed to millions of jobs that remain open, left vacate because of Biden’s last spending bill.

Manchin’s statement certainly dooms Biden’s bill in its current form. There has been talk of lowering its cost, making it more attractive to Manchin and other senators like Kyrsten Sinema. But after Manchin’s criticism, it is unlikely he will support anything that is remotely like Biden’s socialist agenda.
