Liberals Lose Their Minds As DeSantis Forms His Own Military

Rather than depending on the shaky support of the Biden administration, GOP Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is pushing for the restoration of a WWII-era group to guard the state.

DeSantis is asking for the return of the Florida State Guard, a civilian force that will aid the National Guard, according to a new release posted on DeSantis’ website.

DeSantis wants $3.5 million in his budget to create the force.

According to the public release, the Florida State Guard would increase “emergency response abilities in the aftermath of a hurricane, other disasters and any possible state emergency.”

The funding would give training for people who join, the release said.

DeSantis stressed that Florida is not the only state and that 22 other states have some kind of state guard that is supported by the federal government.

The Florida State Guard would not be “held back by the federal government,” Governor DeSantis said, as reported by CNN.

He added that the state guard would give state officials “the ability to reply to events within our state in the best way possible.”

The force would be comprised of 200 volunteers.

The Florida State Guard was formed in 1941 and then disbanded in 1947, as reported by The Hill.

“Recreating the Florida State Guard will allow certain civilians to be trained in emergency response techniques and have the power to mobilize fast,” DeSantis said last week.

The proposal got some media headwinds and led to a Twitter dispute involving MSNBC’s Joy Reid.

“Today, ‘DeSantis’ was trending via Twitter along with ‘Gestapo.’ This result is due to sensationalist and fake narratives pushed by reporters,” DeSantis’ Media Secretary Christina Pushaw stated, as reported by Fox News. “The fact is 22 other states also have State Guards, as proposed for Florida. Saying they are ‘Gestapo’ is disrespectful, not only to the service members who aid in state emergencies, but also to the real victims of the Gestapo.”

“Corporate media’s disinformation super-spreaders are now desperate to get cheap political points against the Republican Governor, but they Floridians know what’s going on. Florida is now the freest state in the nation because we have a governor who will defend our constitutional rights.” Pushaw added.
