Liberals Remove New Yorkers’ Right To Self-Defense

A far-left corrupt prosecutor filed charges against a shop employee for murdering a criminal thug while being beaten, prompting the formation of a Bodega Owners’ Group in New York City to seek a “Stand Your Ground” legislation.

The UBA is supporting 61-year-old Jose Alba, who is being charged with murder after fending off a vicious assault from a career crook thug and calling for “Stand Your Ground” rules so that people like Alba are safeguarded in the future.

“Ultimately, in Florida, this is what you would call stand your ground.” Fernando Mateo, a UBA spokesman, made this statement at a news conference regarding Alba’s case.“That’s what NY City needs,” Mateo concluded.

“Austin Simon, a career criminal, jumped behind the counter and started choking 61-year-old Jose Alba over a bag of chips. Alba had to defended himself, and Simon died as a result of his injuries. Alba has been charged with murder by District Attorney Alvin Bragg.”

Mateo noted that Bodega owners are being assaulted all over New York City at the hands of Soros-funded district lawyers and prosecutors who will do nothing about the violent assailants who terrorize their stores.

“Bodega owners, clerks, and their employees are experiencing very similar circumstances to Mr. Alba’s [in terms of intimidation], and it isn’t reported,” he added. “However, you know what? [Their attackers] aren’t jailed. If they get a desk appearance ticket, if that’s all they get, then they’ll continue terrorizing small enterprises across the city every day.”

Debbie Almontaser, who helped create the Association of Yemeni American Merchants, is calling on city officials to invest $2.5 million in surveillance cameras in bodegas so that offenders can be identified and punished to the full extent of the law.

“It’s crucial since every bodega clerk and owner in the city is living on edge as a result of the rise in crime,” she continued. “We just went through a pandemic, when all of these bodega owners and clerks were frontline employees who were desperately needed.”

It has been reported that soft-on-crime policies are intentionally destabilizing city’s by design, as the Radical Leftists keep up their effort to turn America upside down.

“The newly-elected Manhattan D.A. has promised not to seek jail terms for most of the violent felony criminals in his jurisdiction, restricting imprisonment to only convicted murderers and some convicted perpetrators of violent crimes with weapons.”

According to documents released on Tuesday by Alvin Bragg’s office, “the office will not seek a carceral sentence other than for murder” or “a class B violent felony in which causes significant injury with a deadly weapon, felonies from domestic violence,” and a few exceptions.
