Major Blue City Defunded Police–Now This Happened Over the Summer

Democrats like Joe Biden are scrambling to convince America that they did not support the defund the police movement. Like most of Joe’s lies, it’s falling on deaf ears. Nobody is confused over who pushed the radical movement to slash police budgets in 2020–even as rioters burned down major cities across America.

And, despite Biden’s claims, many Democrats continue to push this anti-police, pro-crime movement. Deep-blue cities have cut police funding by millions. While some quickly (and quietly) restored some of that funding, others continue to make it harder for cops to do their jobs.

In fact, in one blue city, they had their worst Summer yet.

Seattle closed out the month of August with 11 homicides, setting the city on track to break a 25-year record high in deadly shootings, police say.

The city grabbed the national spotlight in 2020 when former Mayor Jenny Durkan proposed a $76 million cut to police funding, according to Seattle P-I. “Defund the police” became the battle cry of scores of protestors in the city following the death of George Floyd, and city leaders eventually made cuts to the department’s budget, Reuters reported…

In 2020, Seattle recorded 53 homicides, the highest in 26 years, according to King 5. 2021 saw a slight decrease with 42 recorded homicides, but there have been 27 homicides so far in 2022, King 5 reported. This puts Seattle on pace to break yet another record in fatal shootings, police say. [Source: Daily Caller]

It happens everywhere they slash police budgets. Radical, leftist city leaders cut millions from police departments. Almost immediately, crime skyrockets. And not just petty crimes like shoplifting. Armed robberies and shootings go through the roof, leading to homicides.

Defunding police, though, is only one part of the far left’s pro-criminal agenda. In many blue cities, liberal lawmakers make changes that remove cash bail and put criminals back on the street. Radical, progressive district attorneys further reward criminals by refusing to prosecute crimes and empty out prisons.

The far-left calls this “criminal justice reform.” What they are really doing is spreading fear and chaos, further hurting Americans’ prosperity.

After all, the more misery, poverty, and fear there is in a community, the more likely voters will support far-left policies.

The problem with the left’s plan is that many are not being fooled. They see the connection between defunding police and increased crime. And while many will still back the radical left, it is only a matter of time before citizens say, “Enough is enough.”

It might take time, but Americans will take their communities back from the left.
