One of Joe Biden’s biggest Achilles’ heels is that thing flapping beneath his nose. Since the dawn of his political career, Biden has said things that get him into hot water. In the past, the media brushed off his endless gaffes as silly comments from good old “Uncle Joe.” But Biden continues to make boasts that are rarely backed by the facts–and Americans are beginning to notice.
He recently stopped in Milwaukee to speak to workers about his “economic recovery.” During his speech, he mentioned a bridge that collapsed in Pittsburgh back in 2022. Biden was apparently talking about his plans to restore infrastructure and was using this bridge as an example. But, it appears he went overboard, making a claim that was demonstrably false. And users were quick to call him out on it.
President Biden faced mockery and skepticism on social media after he told a crowd on Tuesday that he watched a bridge collapse in Pittsburgh last year…
Washington Times White House correspondent Paul Bedard wrote to correct the record, “He showed up hours later since he was in town on an infrastructure mission…”
“He literally can’t get through a speech without objectively lying,” viral conservative personality Sunny McSunnyface wrote. “If only there was some kind of tracker that could track these presidential lies, [CNN fact-checker Daniel Dale] et al.” [Source: Fox News]
According to reports, Biden was in Pittsburg back in 2022 for a meeting. At the same time, a bridge collapsed. It is possible Biden heard about the event or was even driven over to it to see the damage.
But in front of the cameras, these workers, and God, Biden claimed he watched it collapse. He literally claimed “I got there and saw it collapse with over 200 feet off the ground going over a valley.”
He also claimed it was “during the pandemic,” except it happened in 2022, not 2020.
Users were very vocal about this apparent distortion of the facts. One user compared it to Biden’s claims that he was a “long-haul trucker,” someone that has also been refuted. Others assured readers that Biden did not “personally watch a bridge collapse.”
Other lamented Biden’s reputation for bending the truth. One user said, “Another day another lie.”
It’s not clear why Biden appears to so frequently bend the truth. He is often criticized for claiming his son, Beau, died in combat. He’s even said he watched his son’s casket be delivered by the military. Except, Beau died of cancer in an American hospital.
Either Biden is doing what politicians are doing, embellishing the truth. But he takes it several steps further, making it easy for his critics to fact-check him.
Or, he is truly struggling to remember what really happened. Many critics have questioned Biden’s cognitive abilities. Could these blatantly false statements be more evidence of a mental problem?
