Just a short time ago, a sick woman opened fire at the internationally-known Lakewood Church in Houston, TX. The woman brought along her 7-year-old son as a human shield. The event ended quickly, but not before several people were hurt.
As terrible as this event was, it was hardly the first time a church was under attack. Throughout history, Christians have faced persecution and violence for their faith. But the United States has been a safe haven for religious people, thanks to our Christian roots and First Amendment freedoms.
But it looks like that is rapidly changing. And a new report is revealing the awful truth.
The United States has experienced a significant rise in attacks on Christian churches over the past five years according to a report by the Family Research Council (FRC).
In 2023, there were a record number of 436 attacks on Christian churches, which included vandalism, arson, gun-related incidents, and bomb threats, FRC revealed.
These incidents were more than double the number perpetrated in 2022 and more than eight times the number that occurred in 2018, suggesting that hostility against Christian churches in the U.S. “is not only on the rise but also accelerating,” the report found. [Source: Breitbart]
A new report has found that attacks on Christian churches have rapidly increased over the last five years. In 2023 alone, there was a record number of 436 acts against Christian churches. That includes vandalism, arson, gun-related encounters, and even bomb threats.
In the 11-month span of January to November of last year, there were at least 315 occurrences of vandalism, 75 arson attacks (or attempts), 10 gun-related incidents, 20 bomb threats, and 37 other forms of attack.
This is over double from 2022 and eight times higher than in 2018. Experts are saying that attacks against Christians aren’t just increasing, but accelerating.
Why is this happening? It shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone paying attention. The mainstream media has long painted Christians as backward, radical extremists who cling to their “guns and religion.” Since Trump entered politics, the left has become extremely hostile to anyone left of center. That includes many conservative Christians.
Progressives and leftist activists, already unhinged and mentally unstable, associate Christians with conservative politics. They see Christians as a threat to their radical agenda. And they have no qualms about using violence against them.
The liberal-leaning media does nothing to discourage this behavior since they too seem to hate conservatives and Christians. Democrats have stoked fear and hatred against Christians, especially for their unwavering support for pro-life policies.
We should not expect this trend to go away any time soon, especially as so many in our culture despise the values once embraced by most Americans. Churches are rapidly becoming the number one target to progressive extremists. And mainstream society is sitting back and letting it happen.
Christians only have two choices: abandon their faith and values to avoid persecution or stand firm in what they believe, no matter what.
