The Biden administration’s handling of the border crisis has been criticized by a growing number of Democrats. As tens of thousands of migrants overwhelm blue cities, their leaders have called out the president for failing to secure the border.
One particular blue city mayor has been extremely vocal about the border crisis. He even warned that Biden’s failure will “destroy” his city.
Now, in a seemingly unrelated matter, this mayor’s campaign is suddenly under fire. And federal investigators–who answer to Joe Biden–have raided one of his allies.
FBI agents on Thursday executed a search warrant at the Brooklyn home of New York Mayor Eric Adams campaign consultant and top fundraiser Brianna Suggs, leading to federal prosecutors and the FBI beginning a sweeping investigation into the Adams’ campaign’s potentially receiving illegal foreign donations. Mayor Eric Adams had a planned trip to Washington, D.C. to confront the Biden administration on the border crisis. But he was forced to cancel his trip and return to New York, just as FBI agents raided a top ally’s home.
The FBI is accusing the Adams’ campaign of a number of serious crimes. It is claiming Adams may have received “illegal foreign donations.” The warrant stated that Adams’ campaign was providing “kick backs” to a construction company tied to Turkey.
The Biden-led agency is suggesting that foreign donations to the Adams campaign were made in “the names of people who did not actually give donations to the campaign.” They might charge the campaign with wire fraud, conspiracy, and even a “conspiracy to steal federal funds.”
This is all happening while Mayor Adams hammers President Biden over the border crisis, which has overwhelmed New York City. Critics might find the timing oddly coincidental. The Biden administration has been accused of weaponizing the government against its enemies in the past.
But this would be the first time, that we know of, where Biden is going after a prominent member of his own party.
The mayor claims his campaign was held “to the highest ethical standards.” At the time of this writing, the mayor has not been accused of any crimes. Suggs helped raise $18.4 million for Adams in 2021 and an addition $900,000 for his 2025 re-election campaign.
