Years ago, so-called socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez shocked the country with her “Tax the Rich” dress. She wore it while attending the Met Gala, an event only the rich elite get to attend.
Many pointed out the hypocrisy of AOC, attending an exclusive event while calling for the rich to be taxed.
Now, another New York official is shocking users with a controversial dress. But this time, she will probably have many more people supporting her.
New York Republican City Council Member Inna Vernikov wore a striking blue and white evening dress emblazoned with the Jewish star…the Israeli flag…at the annual Manhattan Republican Club gala last night…

Tonight, on the third night of Chanuka, I am at the @NYYRC Gala proudly wearing a dress emblazoned in the flag of Israel 🇮🇱. So many Jewish New Yorkers & Jewish college students all over our country are afraid to display their Jewish identity, wear a Kipa, a Star of David, or… pic.twitter.com/F45usKmvhs

New York Republican City Council Member Inna Vernikov wore a blue and white dress that honored the Israeli Flag. The dress featured the iconic star of David that is emblazoned on the nation’s flag.
She wrote online that she wore the dress to the special event to boldly represent her Jewish ethnicity. She said that many Jewish Americans are “afraid to display” their Jewish identity, in the aftermath of a new explosion of anti-Semitism.
Vernikov called on Jewish Americans to “be loud” and “be proud” of their Jewish heritage.
Soon after Israel went to war after the horrific terror attacks of October 7th, pro-Palestinian groups in America began to protest and criticize Jewish Americans. Progressives join these groups, parroting claims that Israel was committing “genocide.”
This has led to a string of anti-Semitic attacks across America. The Jewish community appears to be afraid that this trend will only grow, as progressives throw fuel on this fire.
Vernikov’s bold dress could strike a chord with many Jewish Americans. Democrats have received criticisms for not strongly condemning anti-Semitism. But Republicans have unapologetically sided with Israel and Jewish people.
Perhaps more Jewish Americans will follow Vernikov’s lead.
