It’s no secret that the “woke mob” is trying to shut down anyone that defies them. American conservatives simply boycott companies whose values don’t match theirs. But the left attacks groups they have nothing to do with, all so they can control free speech and shut down opposing arguments.
Most of the time, the woke mob is successful at attacking celebrities. The rich and famous of our society are terrified of what angry leftists on Twitter might do to them. An NFL player was planning a charity event to raise money for education. But his great “sin” was that it would be held at Trump’s golf course. The mob was triggered. And now, this player is waving the white flag.
The NFL’s Jordan Poyer, strong safety for the Buffalo Bills, has now canceled his charity golf event in the face of backlash over it being held at Trump National Doral in Florida.
The Jordan Poyer Celebrity Tournament had been scheduled for July 10 and aimed to raise money for the ECMC Foundation, “a nationally-focused foundation working to improve higher education for career success among underserved populations through evidence-based innovation,” according to its website…
“Unfortunately, we were sadly surprised by negative comments by some individuals to make this a political battle and continue to divide our community,” the statement added. “We condemn any type of violence and stand by Jordan as he continues to work to make a positive impact and be a role model for our community.” [Source: Breitbart]
This is how vile the woke left has become. They made threats against a charity that was trying to help minorities go to college. But even a worthy cause doesn’t matter to the woke mob when the event is being held at a golf course with Trump’s name on it.
Even more disgusting is how Poyer and his representatives folded at just a push from the left. The event was canceled and pushed back by another year. It’s unclear where the future event will be held if it will be held at all.
According to Poyer’s manager, the player was cowering at threats of “violence.” It’s unclear what that meant. Did Poyer actually fear a group of limp-wristed leftists was going to harm anyone at a security-protected event?
Or was it that this athlete, a would-be liberal celebrity, was too scared of what the woke mob might say about him online? Did he fear cutting cut from his team, because he was associated with Donald Trump?
Plenty of celebrities have been “canceled” by the left, but they are doing just fine. They continue to work, build careers, and enjoy large followings. Often because they defied the radical left. But the more celebrities bow to this hostile mob, the worse things will get for most of us.
The mob already deprived “underserved populations” of education. What next?
