It’s no secret that millions of Americans can’t wait for the 2024 Presidential Election. Joe Biden has been a total failure. And his corrupt and obvious dementia has only hurt our country. The sooner he is removed from office the better. It will be up to the Republican Party to provide a strong enough candidate to win over independent voters and more than a few Democrats.
But can someone like Donald Trump be that candidate? Just a year ago, most Republicans would have said, “Of course.” The 2022 midterms, though, made many people wonder about Trump. He spends his time ranting about 2020 on his social network, instead of uniting the party. And it’s possible that by 2024, another candidate will have the upper hand against old Joe.
And yet another poll reveals who Republicans are leaning toward.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) leads former President Trump by 14 points in a hypothetical 2024 GOP primary match-up, according to a new poll.
The Wall Street Journal survey released on Wednesday found that DeSantis leads Trump among likely Republican voters, 52 percent to 38 percent.
DeSantis also has an advantage in his approval rating, with 84 percent of Republicans surveyed having a favorable view of him. By comparison, 71 percent said they have a favorable view of Trump.
DeSantis’s name recognition also appears strong, as only about 10 percent of likely GOP primary voters said they did not know enough about him to have an opinion. [Source: The Hill]
A Wall Street Journal poll shows that Ron DeSantis is beating Donald Trump 52 to 38. That’s consistent with other recent polls that show the Florida governor is quickly beating Trump. DeSantis has yet to announce a candidacy, but signs suggest he will be Trump’s biggest rival, come the primaries.
But why does it seem, according to polls, that more Republicans are favoring a man who hasn’t even announced a run yet? It’s not because Trump didn’t move mountains while in office to help Americans, because he did.
It seems that Republicans are starting to come to terms with the fact that the left has successfully tarnished Trump’s brand. For over six years, the mainstream media has lied about Trump. They have called him a racist, a Russian puppet, and an “insurrectionist.” While all this isn’t true, enough middle-of-the-road voters believed it. Which is why many of his endorsed candidates lost races in 2022.
Races Republicans should have easily won.
It is possible Republicans consider DeSantis as the better alternative. He is a strong conservative. Represents America-First values. But he doesn’t have the baggage Trump has. His home has never been raided by the FBI. He doesn’t attack his own party relentlessly on social media, just to protect his image.
Nobody knows what will happen next year and in 2024. But it seems like the tide is breaking for DeSantis.
