A federal appeals court has granted a hold that was sought by former President Trump to stop the National Archives from giving documents over to the Democrats’ partisan January 6 House committee.
The order is a win for Trump and his allies, who sued the U.S. House and the National Archives and argued for executive privilege on the 700 records connected to the Capitol protest and riot.
A federal judge refused attempts by Donald Trump earlier this week to prevent the delivery of the first set of documents, which was scheduled to happen this Friday, after which his team issued an appeal.
The Thursday order, coming from the United States Court of Appeals in the DC sets oral arguments to happen at 9:30 a.m. on November 30th. The three judges who gave the ruling were all either appointed by President Joe Biden or by former President Barack Obama.
The case is now likely to head on to the United States Supreme Court.
Joe Biden’s White House has not supported Donald Trump’s claims for executive privilege, and in a decision this week, Judge Tanya Chutkan of the United States District Court in D.C., stated that, “Presidents are not kings, and the Plaintiff is not President.”
The records that the House committee is trying to get include visitor logs, phone call logs, speech drafts, and memos that is believed to put more light on the events before the January 6th riot.
Congress-member Bennie Thompson, who is chairman of the committee, stated this week that after the court blocked Trump’s request to stop the publishing of the documents that his panel “appreciates the Court’s fast and decisive judgement on the former President’s lawsuit, which I think is a little more than an attempt to stop and delay our investigation.”
Democrats have been desperate in their attempts at targeting conservatives using the January 6th protest and small riot as an excuse to do so. And everyone knows that their committee is there for the political persecution of conservatives who disagree with their far-left goals and agendas being forced onto the American people.
