We’ve talked a lot about the devastation coming to Democrats in the fall. Polling and other signs point to Republicans taking back Congress—not to mention winning key elections at the state and local level.
But, for the most part, the discussion has been around swing and red districts. Perhaps liberals assumed deep blue parts of the country were safe. They could push their radical “progressive” agenda without fear of reprisal.
Not quite.
Democrats are leading so terribly in blue states, that even voters over there are disgusted. And, in a shock move, voters recalled a George Soros-back activist DA by a massive margin.
San Francisco voters have recalled radical District Attorney Chesa Boudin, according to the Associated Press, NBC News, and the San Francisco Chronicle, with the “yes” vote running in excess of 60% as early results were counted Tuesday night.
Boudin, the son of convicted Weather Underground militant David Gilbert, was among the first of a cohort of left-wing prosecutors elected on to pursue “criminal justice reform,” vowing to stop prosecuting “quality of life” crimes…
Elected in 2019, Boudin was an early proponent of ending cash bail and prosecution for petty crimes like public urination.
As Breitbart News reported, Boudin immediately fired experienced gang prosecutors. He also “became the first prosecutor in the nation to eliminate cash bail, saying it discriminates against the poor,” according to the Chronicle. When Mayor London Breed tried to launch a crackdown on crime in the drug-infested Tenderloin district, Boudin publicly opposed her efforts. [Source: Breitbart]
I guess there is some sense left in San Francisco. After elected a radical activist to become their district attorney, SF was plunged into a devastating downward spiral of crime, drugs, and homelessness.
Boudin, who is the son of a 1970s domestic terrorist (who tried to kill cops), was systematically destroying the city. His agenda, backed by billionaire socialist George Soros, was to let the city become overrun with crime.
As the city crumbled, it would be easier for Democrats to push greater and greater socialist policies. Make residents fearful of their lives and they’ll accept any measure, no matter how unconstitutional (re: COVID pandemic). But it seems SF residents weren’t fooled.
They knew the chaos was largely Boudin’s fault. And by a considerable margin, they voted him out.
This should be a massive wakeup call for Democrats across the country. Established liberals have consistently bowed to the woke left in recent years. Even long-serving Democrats like Pelosi and Schumer have supported policies they would have never touched ten years ago.
All because they refuse to stand up to the left-wing of the party.
But this recall will shake the DNC. It sends a message that, in the bluest part of the country, radical socialist policies could get you fired.
Will Democrats swing more to the center, after this election? If they have a brain in their skulls they will.
