For years, the New York Attorney General—Letitia James—has led a one-woman crusade against Donald Trump. Long before she was elected, she vowed to liberal voters that she would “get Trump.” You’d have to be an idiot (or blatantly dishonest) to think this woman is an unbiased champion for law and order. She had long ago assumed Trump’s guilt and has been wasting time and money finding proof of her claims.
Numerous New York investigators have resigned in recent months, as it has become abundantly clear that there is no evidence to prove Trump or his business broke the law. Yet James continued her crusade, relying on biased liberal judges to force Trump and his associates to testify. Just two days before Trump was to appear in court, the FBI mysteriously raids his home. There could be no coincidence. James couldn’t find evidence against him, so Democrats in the FBI once again used false pretenses to raid his home (hoping for evidence).
Because of this unfair and unjust treatment, Trump has stonewalled James by pleading the Fifth.
Former President Donald Trump, in a statement Wednesday, said he refused to answer questions from the New York attorney general’s office during a deposition in the civil investigation into the Trump family’s business practices
“Accordingly, under the advice of my counsel and for all of the above reasons, I declined to answer the questions under the rights and privileges afforded to every citizen under the United States Constitution,” he said.
“What Letitia James has tried to do the last three years is a disgrace to the legal system, an affront to New York State taxpayers, and a violation of the solemn rights and protections afforded by the United States Constitution,” Trump added. “I did nothing wrong, which is why, after five years of looking, the Federal, State and local governments, together with the Fake News Media, have found nothing.” [Source: Fox News]
In a post to TRUTH Social, Trump carefully laid out the ample evidence of James’ unjust biased against him. She has long accused Trump of wrongdoing, without citing evidence. It seems, in her mind, Trump was guilty until proven innocent. And she has abused her position as New York’s attorney general to persecute the 45th president, while criminals are “shooting, slashing, and hurting people” on New York streets.
It seems Trump had every intention of testifying before the court this week. Until, that is, the FBI raided his home on questionable grounds. He said, “If there was any question in my mind” that they were wrongfully gunning for him, “the raid on my home… just two days prior to this disposition, wiped out any uncertainty.”
Trump invoked the Fifth Amendment, which protects Americans from testifying against themselves. He is doing this because the Biden “Administration and many prosecutors in this Country have lost all moral and ethical bounds of decency.”
How the left will react to this is critical. You might think Democrat prosecutors will try to use this as “proof” that Trump has something to hide. However, it is against the law to attack a person for pleading the 5th. Lawyers prosecuting Kyle Rittenhouse earlier this year learned that the hard way.
This move shuts down further attempts by James to distort Trump’s testimony and information for her own gain. Some commentators will try to spin this to make Trump look guilty. But when haven’t they done that over the last five years?
The only end to this pathetic witch hunt will come, when these corrupt leftists are removed from office.
