This week, Iowa Republicans engaged in the age-old caucus tradition to vote on their presidential nominee. Polls going into the caucus showed Donald Trump leading his rivals.
Candidates like Ron DeSantis and Nikki Haley spent millions to sway Iowa voters.
But at the end of the night, Donald Trump was the clear winner. Most of his supporters won’t be surprised. However, Trump managed to do something no Republican candidate has ever done.
Former President Donald Trump now owns the record for the largest margin of victory in the history of contested Iowa Republican caucuses, more than doubling the previous mark…
What is more, Trump appears to have garnered the highest vote share in Iowa Republican caucus history. Former President George Bush had performed the best of any Republican candidate going back to 1972 with 41 percent, data from the Des Moines Public Library shows. [Source: Breitbart]
Donald Trump won the Iowa caucus by the largest margin in history. The previous record was held by Bob Dole, who won Iowa by 12.8%. According to the night’s results, Trump will have beaten DeSantis by 21.3%.
On top of this, Trump will have the highest vote share in Iowa Republican caucus history. Before that, George Bush had the best numbers, at 41% of the vote.
But Trump will end up having around 51 percent of the caucuses’ votes, a massively higher percent—and a record that is not likely to be topped by anyone soon.
Even the liberal media acknowledged Trump’s huge victory. Only 30 minutes into the caucuses, major outlets began calling the race for the former president. Democrats were quick to panic, with Joe Biden and his supporters trying to desperately spin the results.
This win for Trump comes after months of attacks by Democratic prosecutors. Liberals in the federal government and several states have thrown lawsuit after lawsuit at the former president. Many believe these cases were motivated by a desire to derail his campaign.
If that was the case, Democrats are failing miserably. Trump dominated the Iowa caucus. And he could ride this momentum all the way to November.
