Nobody should be surprised that Twitter shut down President Trump’s account. They have been toying with that idea for years, censoring his tweets and suppressing the tweets of other conservatives. They are currently using the excuse that Trump was responsible for the events on January 6. But few are buying that line.
Soon after Trump was shut down, other conservative accounts disappeared from the platform. That was followed by other social networks allegedly moving to suppressing the reach of not only Trump, but some outspoken and influential conservative movements.
These sites continue to claim they are doing this to “protect” users, saying these accounts have instigated violence or broken other rules. But you’d be hard-pressed to find evidence that patriotic Americans were posting anything that resembled calls to violence.
(Ignoring the fact that numerous Antifa, BLM, and other radical leftist accounts organize their “protests” on social media and rarely are banned.)
It seems Trump refuses to take this lying down. So, he responded in a post about what he’ll do next.
President Trump responded on Friday night to news that he had been permanently banned by Twitter, saying he “predicted this would happen” and that he may build “our own platform in the near future.”
Judd Deere, White House deputy press secretary, confirmed to the White House press pool that Trump’s statement had been posted from the @POTUS Twitter account…
“I predicted this would happen. We have been negotiating with various other sites, and will have a big announcement soon, while we also look at the possibilities of building out our own platform in the near future. We will not be SILENCED!

Trump posted his message to the official POTUS Twitter account. Of course, Twitter deleted those tweets and locked that account. You know, you really can’t pretend to be “protecting” users when you appear so desperate to silence the speech of the President of the United States.
Twitter is coming off as a spoiled, rotten brat, fearful of what its critics might say. Censorship is the last, desperate effort of someone who doesn’t have anything meaningful left to say. The bitter, vengeful liberals who infest Twitter might be supportive of their move, but not the rest of the country or the world.
We don’t have the numbers yet, but something tells me Twitter is watching their user accounts hemorrhage right now. Trump supporters have no reason to stay on the platform. And many others, regardless of their politics, are shocked to see the site behave this way.
What platform will Trump move to? Some seem to think Parlor (although he has not announced anything), because that social network was quickly shut down by their hosts.
But regardless of what happens, I suspect it will not go well for social media sites that embrace censorship and bully tactics.
