Many Americans were shocked after top universities refused to condemn anti-Semitism on their campuses. This includes top donors, who called on school presidents and boards to act.
Despite pressure from these alumni, many schools continued to ignore or seemingly condone students spreading hate against Jews and Israel.
This has resulted in devastating consequences. Some schools have lost tens of millions in endowments. And now, a major donor to Harvard University has made a stunning announcement.
Wall Street billionaire Bill Ackman says he is no longer a Democrat and has begun donating to Republican candidates following his ongoing war against Harvard and the acceptance of antisemitism on college campuses.
This comes after Ackman, a Jewish Harvard grad and major donor, has been on a righteous crusade to restore American universities from the radical far-left, specifically taking aim at diversity, equity, and inclusion policies, ever since 34 Harvard student organizations signed an open letter supporting Hamas terrorists and blaming Israel for the Oct. 7 terrorist attack. Bill Ackman, a Jewish Harvard graduate and major donor, announced he is “no longer a Democrat.” He calls himself a “centrist” who “cares only about the truth.” This appears to be a response to the ongoing actions by top schools to ignore anti-Semitism on their campuses.
Ackman, a top Wall Street businessman, has been fighting to get woke propaganda out of American colleges. He fights about ending DEI programs at schools, which prop up leftist ideology.
It seems Harvard’s refusal to confront anti-Semitic student groups was the final straw for Ackman. He had pulled his support for the university and is now, apparently, donating to Republican political candidates.
Ackman has not formally become a Republican. He has been called a “moderate Democrat.” But his departure from the party could be a sign that more moderate Democrats will flee.
A long-simmering feud between progressives and moderates exploded after the October 7th attack in Israel. Progressive leftists blamed Israel for the terror attack, accusing the nation of oppressing Palestinians. Most moderate Democrats were shocked at this, siding with Israel and the victims of the attack.
It does look like this rift will mend any time soon. And as progressive Democrats increase their demands for a ceasefire, seemingly endorsing anti-Israel and anti-Semitic propaganda, we might see more moderates leave the party.
