A 27-year-old University of Central Florida student named Jarrett Vick — who goes by Jaylee and wears a blue wig — responded to a routine police encounter by screaming "She! She! Just say the right pronouns!" at officers, then physically attacking them. What followed was mace, a taser, and three criminal charges.
The encounter had nothing to do with pronouns. It had nothing to do with Vick at all.
The incident began when a UCF police officer responded to a stolen vehicle investigation on campus. Vick, who was not involved in the case, inserted himself into the situation and began confronting the officer. "Why do you let those kids get away with this? They are not supposed to be here," Vick shouted, apparently agitated about an unrelated grievance.
When the officer attempted to de-escalate and asked Vick to step back, the situation went sideways. Vick became enraged over the officer's use of male pronouns and launched into a full meltdown — screaming about misgendering while advancing on police. When an officer warned that continued aggression would result in arrest, Vick's response was succinct: "F---ing try it."
They tried it.
Mace was deployed first. When that failed to resolve the situation, officers used a taser. Vick was taken into custody and charged on February 5, 2025, with battery on law enforcement, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct. Radio communications captured during the arrest reveal an officer saying "he's having a breakdown," followed by a more telling assessment: "He's gonna need some care. There's something wrong, and he definitely can't be with the gen pop. They will destroy him."
That last line — from the same officer Vick had just attacked — is worth sitting with for a moment. The cop who got assaulted was still thinking about Vick's safety in custody. Not exactly the portrait of bigoted law enforcement that the pronoun crowd likes to paint.
Vick pleaded not guilty on all three charges. According to Orange County records, the cases are now marked as closed. Vick later told the New York Post he was "f---ing harassed by the cops" — a characterization that the body camera footage does not support in any recognizable way.

Someone with an ideological grievance picks a fight with the one group of people who are professionally obligated to respond with force when physically attacked, and then the story becomes about how the system failed them. Battery on a law enforcement officer isn't a pronoun dispute. It's a felony in most jurisdictions.
