FBI Raid Backfires as GOP Primary Upset Scores Big Win for Trump

All year long (even since last year, really), we’ve been told that a “red wave” was going to sweep the 2022 midterms. All up until recent weeks, conveniently. Liberal outlets, who have an interest in protecting Democrats, suddenly claimed that the left would be able to survive the upcoming elections. Why did they change their tune? Mostly to discourage conservative voters, of course, and prod liberals into voting.

But if they thought that they could gaslight their way into midterm victories, their own corrupt establishment doomed them. The unprecedented FBI raid on Trump’s home at Mar-a-Largo sparked a sitting fuse. Republicans are outraged that Biden’s DOJ would launch an attack on a former rival. The political motivations cannot be ignored. And it has inspired Republicans like never before.

And we’re already feeling the effects of this backlash, in the form of a major primary upset.

In what is easily one of the Nutmeg State’s biggest upsets in recent history, former State House Republican leader and long-presumed favorite Themis Klarides lost the Senate primary to Republican National Committeewoman and former President Donald Trump-endorsed Leora Levy…

To call Levy’s upset of historic proportions is no exaggeration. In defeating Klarides, who had the endorsement of the state Republican convention, Levy became only the third Republican to win a statewide primary over the convention-endorsed candidate since primaries began in Connecticut in 1970.

“Trump voters were fired up,” said one GOP consultant who requested anonymity, “His endorsement [which came last Thursday] along with what happened yesterday when the FBI raided Mar-a-Lago came at a good time for Leora. The conservative Trump bases had an outlet— today’s primary— which allowed them to hit back by voting for Leora.” [Source: Newsmax]

Connecticut Republicans, given their East Coast locale, are generally considered moderate. They aren’t the first to jump onto the MAGA bandwagon. But it seems a Trump-backed GOP candidate, Leora Levy, defeated establishment Themis Klarides—who was considered the favorite.

Political pundits are searching for reasons for this massive upset. And the only thing they can point to is the shocking raid on Trump’s home. The 45th candidate endorsed Levy just days before the primary. He also hosted a “tele-rally” on Monday that brought in 32,619 viewers. And on that same night, the FBI raided his home.

We’ve heard from numerous Americans that this underhanded move by Biden’s DOJ outraged them. Many conservatives and independents firmly believe it was politically motivated. And people who had “cooled” on Trump and the GOP are now even more eager to back him.

Some liberal pundits claim the left did this on purpose. They seem to think that they wanted to help Trump, so he’d win the 2024 nomination instead of DeSantis. That only works if you assume Trump won’t win against Biden in 2024. A very stupid gamble.

Biden is suffering from massively bad approval numbers. His party hates him. And he might not even be well enough by 2024 to run. The party doesn’t have anyone even close to ready to fill his shoes. To assume that Biden would beat Trump in 2024—under those circumstances—is idiotic.

And to do this, just before major midterm elections, would be suicide. Voters would be fired up to send a strong message against the Democrats—in the form of kicking them out of Congress.

Clearly this raid—and the questionable investigation connected to it—was a miscalculated political attack against a formidable opponent. Democrats screwed up and will be regretting it for months if not years to come.
